Written in the key of D major. After a brief opening of half notes by all instruments, Dramatic Strings moves along at a fairly fast tempo. Although written in four, it can be conducted in a comfortable two. All the parts make significant contributions to the overall performance both melodically and harmonically. Cello parts go into 3rd position and bass parts 4th position. Violin and viola parts are in 1st position. Duration is 2:37.
