St. Thomas opens with a short, slow, almost free form. This breaks into a somewhat distorted treatment of the melody with dissonant harmonic accompaniment. This then breaks into a toe-tapping rendition of the traditional Sonny Rollins tune. The style, and opening harmonies, and rhythms make this a good choice for your high school strings.
